I've read mixed information that the i3 only supports 2.4Ghz and actually that it does in fact support 5Ghz. I was curious if anyone was successfully able to connect it to their 5Ghz wifi since I've had nothing but trouble with it. I just bought an i3 today and haven't had any luck connecting to 5GHz. Documentation is sparse at best. Annoying 1. Search " cmd " in the Start Menu. 2. Type " netsh wlan show drivers " in the Command Prompt & Press Enter. 3. Look for the " Radio types supported " section. The computer supports both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz - your network capability IS Dual-Band Compatible. This is true if your computer supports both 802.11ac and 802.11n together as well. The Open Device Manager and double-click the WiFi entry. Click the Advanced tab and see if there's a Preferred Band option on the Properties list. If offered, make sure it's set to 5 GHz. Then reboot. If still not connected to 5 GHz, open the Network Status page in Windows and click Show available networks.

Conclusion. Taking advantage of 5GHz WiFi channels isn’t possible with all iPhone models but if you are using an iPhone 5 or higher, it is possible.
